Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: When can I book a room for the summer?
A: Members have until March 24th to book their rooms for the summer. Non-members can fill out an on line application at any time. After March 24th non-members will be contacted by the office to arrange room bookings.

Q: What do the houses and rooms look like? Where are they located?
A: Please visit our Houses Page here to view our properties.

Q: Will I get to pick my room?
A: You may be offered a choice of rooms within a house but the office will likely select a house and room for you based on availability.

Q: Whom will I be living with?
A: It is difficult to say how many people you will be living with but they will most likely be students studying or working in Kingston for the summer. We try to group people together in houses so that you can meet new people and feel safe and comfortable.

Q: How do I arrange for phone/internet?
A: Your house may come equipped with internet – this will depend on how many current members are staying in the house over the summer months. You may contact the office and ask to be put in contact with the current members of the house you will move into, in order to check into the internet situation prior to your arrival. As for phone, many members have mobile phones and land-line phones are not as popular as they once were. If you require phone, you can contact Bell upon your arrival and activate the phone jack in your bedroom for the summer months.

Q: What kind of a contract do I need to sign?
A: You will sign what is called a ‘Summer Occupancy Agreement’, which is similar to a lease. This contract will outline that you are required to keep your room and house in good condition and that you are to peacefully cohabitate with your housemates throughout the length of your stay.
